5=Life on Vancouver Island - 04:25 - Jul 23, 2008
Life is different here! It could be because of the panorama of physical beauty. It could be the stress-relieving effects of deep-breathing fresh ocean air. Perhaps it is the more relaxed pace of life. Maybe it results from the influence of an eclectic combination of people who have shared the Island for generations – the First Nations people, artists and artisans, organic farmers, fishers and loggers, environmentalists, professionals and business people. It could be because of the daily experince Islanders have with Canada’s piece of paradise, and knowing their place is in it

2=Tofino - Vancouver Island, Canada.
I spent 3 nights in Tofino at Eik Landing (Adrienne's Loft) which was a nice upgrade from the Hostel in Vancouver (Granville Street) where we had stayed earlier. The view from the apartment was pretty damn amazing. Tofino is a small town of 1.500 souls but receive over a million visitors a year (not a lot in April, though :).
It's situated on the Pacific coast and is at the very end of the only paved road that crosses the island (built during WWII). This is heaven if you ask me - I could settle here for the rest of my life :) I'd just need a faster Internet connection than the 256kbit one that the apartment had...
I'll be posting a few videos from here. If you're ever in the area, don't dare miss Tofino

1=Travel Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada on a Working Cargo Ship - 08:42 - Mar 1, 2008
Cruise the inland waterways of coastal British Columbia and experience the magic of the MV Aurora Explorer, a 135 foot landing craft that transports a wide variety of heavy equipment and general freight throughout the Gulf of Georgia and the remote inlets of Johnstone-Queen Charlotte Straits. You will enjoy rugged coastal scenery, observe many species of whales, including Killer Whales and Humpbacks, Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Otters, Dolphins(porpoise) and other sea life, and experience the history and influence of the early explorers, settlers, cannery workers and native populations on the coast. You'll listen as the crew works the radio telephones or navigates the ship by radar and watch as freight is loaded and discharged along the way
